Standard 10. Collaboration, ethics, and relationships
What is it?
A teacher must be able to communicate and interact with parents or guardians, families, school colleagues, and the community to support student learning and well-being.
What I think it is
We need to continue to learn and engage with the idea of becoming effective communicators with everyone we engage with in our daily activities. If there is a barrier between communication with others, we need to find an alternative way to explain or communicate with others.
While teaching, we should try to invite families into the classroom, so they can observe their children grow and develop into their own person. Having parents, guardians, community members, or other volunteers in the classroom, helps to show students how connected we all are and that people care about them. It also shows parents what we do with their students throughout the day.
