Mrs. Birdseye's Classroom

We as educators need to be aware of the dangers of a single word or story. We each see things from different perspectives, we all carry one piece of the story. We need to incorporate a culturally responsive classroom talk so students feel comfortable to develop and grow in all areas of life (academic and home). As educators, we need to know that everything we do and how we say it is interpreted in a variety of ways. We need to be active listeners to help create an understanding of what this may look like, and promote it in all parts of life. Active listening, collaborative and supportive interactions, and inquiry based learning help deepen our students understanding of a variety of topics.
