Standard 8. Assessment
What is it?
A teacher must understand and be able to use formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the student.
What I think it is
Educators need to understand how informal and formal assessments affect students, they have a possibility of destroying how they look at themselves. We need to work to find a way to help students understand the importance of informal and formal assessments, in a way that won't hurt their self-esteem. We need to make sure our students understand the purpose of assessment, and that the scores that come from that - do not make up ones' identity.
