Standard 4. Instructional Strategies
What is it?
A teacher must understand and use a variety of instructional strategies to encourage student development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.
What I think
As educators we need to incorporate the students in the learning process, meaning we need to push them in a safe environment to be better than themselves. We need to learn how to ask culturally responsive questions and provide answers that allow students to build on each other (can you say more? Does anyone have anything to add to that?). Each student has a preferred method of learning (paper and pencil or technology), as educators we need to help students have a variety of opportunities to learn in these formats. In our society, the age of technology has pushed its way into the classroom - as educators we need to find a way to incorporate this in our students learning as well (SmartBoards, games, brain breaks, educational music), all while encouraging students to think critically, overcome fears, and help encouraging life skills.
